The miniature donkey brood jennets listed below are a sample of the quality female donkeys in the Elms Farm donkey breeding program. Our breeding female donkeys have been carefully selected for their conformation, pedigree, bloodline, temperament, color, genetic diversity, and compatibility with our herd sires. We travel throughout North America to personally inspect prospective jennets to ensure they meet our criteria before including them in our breeding program. Using this approach and carefully planning each herd sire - jennet mating, we believe we can produce top quality miniature donkeys and further improve the miniature donkey breed.

32.25" Dark Brown
MDR#19156 ~ DOB: July 9, 1995

Sire:  The Fireman, 32.5" Dark Red
Grand Sire:  DMF Junior, 33" Rose-Dun
     Grand Dam:  G Grumpy, 33" Brown/Gray Dun

Dam:  MGF Venus Uhura, 31" Black/Brown
Grand Sire:  LCF Valintino 50, 32" Dark Red
      Grand Dam:
LCR Philamena, 32" Dark Brown

Foundation Jennet of Excellence, from the McRoberts herd. A Fireman daughter, and a granddaughter of the famous Valintino 50th. I have seen many of her foals, as adults, by at least 7 different sires, and every one has been a donkey you would be proud to have in your herd. Several of her descendants are in our breeding herd. At age 19, with her up-headed stance, and her showy, beautiful stride, she still catches the eyes of visitors to our farm, who pick her out in the large jennet group to comment on. Her foals have been short haired and wooly, in colors from dark red, dark brown, true black, black and white spotted, fully frosted spotted, and russet. It is rare anymore to find a donkey that goes back in 4 generations to the imports (B Bel Tiempo 38 and M Marianna 27 are in her pedigree). Pon Farr is an easy breeder, foals easily. She is a great mother, and stays in great body condition on just pasture while nursing her foals. She had never been properly handled when we got her, but she learned to trust us quickly. She halters and leads well, lets you handle her hooves, and has a great personality.

33" Dark Brown and White Spotted Wooly Jennet
MDR#44829 ~ DOB: July 14, 2002

Sire:  MGF Me Cookie Monster Too, 34" Black
Grand Sire:   Circle C Black Russian, 31" Black w/Cross
Grand Dam: MGF Venus Ezri 620, 33.5" Very Dark Brown & White Spot

Dam: Venus Elegante 901, 32" Gray & White Spot
Grand Sire:  MGF Peabody, 33" Gray & White Spotted
Grand Dam:  MGF Venus Halista 70, 33" Brown

Miss Milano is one of the most beautiful long haired jennies we  have ever seen. At 11 years old, she still retains the long hair, after a long hot summer, when all the regular miniature donkeys have completely shed out. Many wooly donkeys also get much thinner hair coats by the end of the summer, and then grow lots of hair back quickly in the fall.  One picture shows her with her dredlocks on Sept 25, 2012. The other picture was taken several days later, after a bath and grooming. Underneath all that hair, she has a really nice stocky build, with good bone, straight legs, balance, a wide chest, and good bite. She has a gentle temperament, and halter trained quickly. Miss Milano was exposed to Doc Shivago before we bought her, and had a splendid black and white spotted jennet on April 30.

33.25" Black Jennet
MDR#38415 ~ DOB 09/24/03

Sire:  MGF Homer, 33.25" Black & White Spotted
Grand Sire:   Dodge City Miniatures Jack of Spades, 31.5" Black w/Cross NLP
Grand Dam: MGF Venus Immortal 97, 35" Dark Brown & White Spotted

Dam: MGF Venus Carrilion, 32" Dark Brown
Grand Sire:  Sunset Acres Harry, 35" Black
Grand Dam:  Boones Little Carlottia, 32" Brown/Slate

Helen is a special jennet, very correct, coal black and super sweet. This picture was taken in April, 2011, showing her in her late winter coat. Towards the end of the winter, she gets a reddish cast to the tips of her black hair. When she sheds out in the summer, she is coal black, no visible cross. Helen has unusual ears, the tips go forward, and are a bit floppy. This is due to some injury as a foal, perhaps her mother nipped her ears? You can feel scar tissue on both her ears. Her foals have all had perfectly normal donkey ears. Meanwhile, you can always tell Helen out in the field, by her dark coat, and the ears. Helen's first foal is in our brood jennet herd, The Elms Sparkling Night Sky, also coal black. Her second foal was a black jennet, The Elms La Reine Helene. Third foal was The Elms Bella Helena, a black and white spotted jennet. Fourth foal is The Elms Onyx, a dark brown and white spotted jack, born in 2012.

Grand Sire:  Dodge City Miniatures Jack of Spades, 31.5" Black w/Cross, NLP
Grand Dam:  MGF Venus K'evas 7, 33" Gray & White Spotted

She's gorgeous with the combination of her spots and long hair. She has a serene temperament, and stocky build. Her first foal, The Elms Romantic Tale, is a true black jennet with white points, wide stocky build, and with hair that falls in locks at weaning time. Tell Me a Tale will be bred to our spotted woolly jack, MGF Musketeer, Spring 2009.

Tell Me a Tale had a super wooly spotted jack in 2010, The Elms Orion. She had a super wooly spotted jennet in 2011, The Elms Telly's Tale.

Dottie is the product of champion breeding and is the 2006 and 2007 Reserve ACOSA National Champion and Color Class winner in Shelbyville, TN. Dottie is trained for show and a standout everywhere she goes. Her sire and dam were both first in their class and both 2001 Reserve ACOSA National Champions. Here is a Champion with the hard to get tyger spotting pattern. Dottie will be 3 in August.

Update! Dottie once again is the Color Class winner at the 2008 Great Celebration Mule & Donkey Show July 10-12, 2008, against stiff competiton. She also won the three and over ACOSA Jennet Class.

We were thrilled to buy Dots at the Great American Miniature Donkey Sale. She is so beautiful. We have bred her to Mojave for a 2009 and we think that should be an exciting foal!

Dots had a dark brown and white spotted jennet in 2010, the Elms Dottie's Valentine.

Status: Bred to Rembrandt for Spring 2009.

Apple Blossom, a fitting name for this beautiful, stocky, frosted sorrel with fantastic long, woolly hair. Her mother is also stocky and wooly. All that white hair makes her stand out in the field! This serene, white jennet is genetically spotted, with the ability to produce any type of spotted pattern, or a solid colored foal. Imagine what she can produce with the long hair genetics mixed in there as well! Her first foal, by Rembrandt, is a gorgeous red jennet, The Elms Rose Blossom, born in 2007.

Her second foal was a dark brown jack in 2009, The Elms Renoir. Her 2010 foal was a dark brown jennet, The Elms Lilac Blossom. In 2011 she had a red based frosted spotted white jack, The Elms White Lightning.

Melody is a go with you anywhere donkey, but I would be able to pick her out in the field if she wasn't always by my side. She is so beautiful, a rich dark red, just as pretty as can be. Her first foal, The Elms Rhapsody in Red, sired by Santana, is as dark red as her mother with the same outgoing personality. Melody has been bred back to Santana for 2009.
