33" Brown and White Spotted Wooly Jack
Birth: April 26, 2017

MDR #pending

Sire:  The Elms Lil Harry Dude, 31¼" Dark Brown Wooly
Grand Sire:   GJR Little Red Hairy, 30” Dark Red
Grand Dam:  The Elms Absolutely Precious, 29¾" Black/White Spotted

Dam:  Bainbridge’s Emerald Isle, 32½" Dk Brown/White Spotted Wooly
     Grand Sire:
Arrow Creek Harry Houdini, 34" Black
Grand Dam:  MGF Venus Ezri, 33½" Very Dark Brown/White Spotted

Here is a very lovely spotted breeding jack. Harp has very nice conformation. He shows a good spotted pattern, with dark over his top line, which means he doesn’t show much dirt. He likes to lead, loves petting, and greets me in the stall. Good for the farrier. We are no longer breeding, so he hasn’t been tried with jennets yet, but he is certainly ready. His sire carries red, and Harp might also. He is a wooly, although these pictures taken September 10, 2020 show him in his shed coat. Wooly donkeys do shed, just not completely, and very late in the summer. His dam continued to show strong wooly traits as she aged, but his sire’s wooly traits diminished as he matured. Harp appears to be in between his sire and dam for wooly traits.

These two tightly bonded donkeys were some of our herd sires. We have now gelded them, and they are ready to go to their new home together. Both have gentle temperaments, and are mannerly. Dude and Orion are both registered as wooly donkeys. The shed off summer coat pictures are from September, 2020, before gelding, and show their naturally shed coats. As you can see, Dude sheds pretty naturally, except for the feathers on his legs. He doesn’t have strong wooly traits, mostly the mane that lies down, and a dense coat in winter. Orion does have more wooly traits, he always has the longer belly hair, feathers on his lower legs, and long hair in his ears, and a longer coat in winter. I love his large shaggy ears. Current coggins on both.

Grand Dam: MGF Venus la Rimsky-Korsakov 926, 33" Dark Brown & White Spot

Dam: MGF Xanadu 299, 34" Black
Grand Sire:  MGF Homer, 33.25 " Black & White Spot
Grand Dam:  MGF Venus Swilla, 35" Black

Shangri La is a piece of heaven in the donkey color world. She is coal black, with a small spot on her forehead. She is always coal black, and does not bleach or show any sign of her cross. She is a registered wooly jennet, but since her hair texture is fine, she does shed mostly out in the summer, and doesn’t get the dreadlocks. She has a super personality, very friendly, is very easy to halter and lead, good for the farrier. Stocky build. She has had two foals. We really like this jennet, but my health means I need to reduce the number of donkeys I care for. If black is the color you want in your herd, here is the jennet for you. New pictures coming soon. Click here to see her complete pedigree.

Update! Shangri La has been bred August 11 to The Elms Harp. He has good conformation that matches hers well, both have gentle and willing temperaments. His might even give his spotted gene to the foal, in which case expect a black and white spotted foal, and probably wooly!

Beautiful up-headed jennet, very elegant. Lovely big ears. Everything I always liked in the cross with Black Knight and Synnamon. Foundation blood lines. This jennet has the style, but not the personality, to make a fine show jennet, as she is on the timid side. But oh what she might do for your breeding program! 4 jennet foals, some quite fancy indeed. Picture taken in August, shows her naturally glossy hair coat, un-groomed. Apologies for the flies, she had been in our pasture and I had just come home from a short vacation. Click here to see her complete pedigree.

Dark Brown Wooly Jennet
Birth: May 5, 2017

Sire:  The Elms Lil Hairy Dude, 30 1/4" Dark Brown Wooly
Grand Sire:   GJR Little Red Hairy, 30" Dark Red
Grand Dam:  The Elms Absolutely Precious, 29 3/4" Black & White Spotted

Dam:  The Elms Wooly Bear, 33" Dark Brown Wooly
     Grand Sire:
MGF Doctor Shivago, 32.5" Dark Brown & White Spotted
Grand Dam:  MGF Whispering Rose, Brown & White Spotted

Dancing Bear is super wooly at almost one year. Her coat is over 4 inches long, with a mane that falls over, and bangs and whiskers. It looks so lovely with her dark chocolate color.  She has very nice stocky conformation, and a willing attitude. She halters and leads well, and is good for the farrier. Her dam, Wooly Bear, is always long haired, even in late summer. Multiple generations of wooly donkeys in her pedigree reinforce the long haired traits. She measured 29 7/8" on March 26, when we took these pictures.

     Grand Sire:
 The Fireman, 32.5" Dark Red
Grand Dam:  MGF Venus Uhura, 31" Black/Brown

Valeris is a compact and well built jennet. Her dam is Venus Pon Farr, a Fireman daughter out of a Valintino 50 daughter. Pon Farr, a foundation jennet of excellence, has had foals that were red, brown, black, black and white spotted, and some were wooly. The sire, Tip Top, is a wonderful compact wooly jack combining the Little Red Hairy and the Harry Houdini blood lines. The Elms Valeris, at almost one year, measures 28 1/4”, and is black. She has a spunky personality, very willing to halter and lead, good for the farrier. She shows a longer than average foal coat in these pictures, but I expect her to shed out normally this year. She is not a wooly donkey. We think she would be a good show jennet, with that outgoing attitude, the upright head carriage, and what will probably be a naturally shiny black coat.

Mr Patch is a wonderful herd sire prospect, especially someone wanting to work with spots in a wooly, compact donkey. Good build, friendly temperament, good bite, willing attitude. He is good for halter, leads, stands for the farrier. Nice straight legs. These pictures were taken in early May, and as of June 6 he has not shown any sign of shedding, although our regular haired donkeys are almost completely shed by now. His voice is changing and he’s showing lots of interest in the jennets, now that he’s in a pasture next to some. Take a good look at his pedigree, and see if he is compatible with your wooly blood lines.

She's a doll, so nice to work with. Good bone on her, and an interesting spot pattern, with that much darker spot over her croup. We were so hoping for a spot, to see what she would throw. Got a very nice dark brown jennet instead, The Elms Baby Doll, August 2014. Doing a great job as a mother, and the foal is a delight.

The only way to describe this jennet is Absolutely Precious! Masses of long hair, a gentle temperament, and so sweet. We are a little surprised she ended up as small as she is, but Absolutely Precious is put together properly. She is black and white, but her hair looks a bit bleached in these pictures taken July 31, 2014, as it is last year's hair that she has not shed. This jennet is fabulous for the long haired trait. She had her first foal, a fine dark brown jack,  in July 2014, sired by GJR Little Red Hairy. Doing a fine job as a mother, and we think the foal will be as wooly as she is.

This is a divine little jennet. Built just about perfect, with a great temperament. Wooly as well. We bought her at the McRoberts Dispersal Sale, and named her for the sexy Vulcan character,T'Pol, from the TV program, Star Trek Enterprise. Seemed fitting as her mother's name also came from that program. T'Pol, the character, is smart and even tempered, and so is this jennet. She trained up quickly, and comes right up to me in the field, leads well, very gentle. Since she is red based, we plan to breed her to our red wooly jack. Surprise, she arrived pregnant, and gave us a tiny dark red jack foal in July!

We love our herd sire jacks, and Rembrandt was phenomenal to work with, and fabulous foals. We aren’t breeding so much anymore, so we have gelded him, and he is ready to go to his next home. This is a very mannerly donkey, always has been easy to work with, halter, lead, farrier. He has a mellow temperament. These pictures were taken June 25, and he has not quite finished shedding. When he has shed completely, he is shiny black, you can barely see his cross, and he has beautiful white markings.

Here is a wonderful wooly jack! Guinness is well behaved, and easy to handle, mannerly on the halter. He has good conformation. His first foal will be arriving in April or May this year. Measured 31.25” March 9, 2017. He has always been housed with other jacks, so is well socialized. You would be able to keep him with other jacks (as long as there are not jennets very close by). If you are looking for a well built, compact, wooly jack, give this donkey serious consideration.

Such fancy markings! Miss Fancy has a lovely up-headed style, very elegant, like her mother, with really nice conformation. Those are very special markings, with the white collar and the full mascara around her eyes, highlighted by the blaze. Two white hind socks as well. Her base color, which is lighter than both her sire and dam, suggests that she carries red genetics (her mother is known to carry red). Calm temperament comes from both sides. Her sire is wooly, but her dam is not, and Fancy, with her normal foal coat, and lovely upright mane, will not be a wooly. I expect her to shed out normally and sleekly like her mother when mature. Available to go to her new home at weaning when she is 5 months old.

Oh, she is So Precious! Black with a cross, and hair that is so thick. We are sure she will be a wonderful wooly donkey, with this sire and dam.

Definitely a super wooly, as these pictures from August 15, 2017 show. At 3 1/2 months her black newborn foal coat has bleached out a lot, but the very dark color should return. However, as a wooly, she will always show bleached hair, so she will look mostly a rich dark brown unless you clip her. But then she wouldn’t be wooly, so it’s a choice. Lovely stocky conformation.

We don’t have a good, unrelated jack to breed her to, so we are offering this breeding age wooly mini jenny for sale. This wooly jennet is a full sister to our former wooly herd sire, Little Red Hairy, and she is the mother of a former micro woolly herd sire, The Elms Maglite. Pink Lace has been strongly bonded to another jennet, and when they were pastured together with a jack, she didn’t get bred, probably because he was a non aggressive jack and was chased away. She cycles regularly, and I have now separated her from the other jennet. Our wooly jack, Orion, is too big and heavy boned to breed to this jennet. Pink Lace belongs in a small sized wooly breeding program, and she is unrelated to most of the wooly blood lines out there.

Her mother is a wonderful wooly jennet, always has lots of hair, and we think with multiple generations of long hair on both sides that Liesel will be a good wooly foal as well. With spots, and small size, we don’t expect this foal to remain available very long. Anneliese and Liesel are being offered together.

Elegant, and correct black jennet with lovely markings. A Black Knight daughter, and a proven brood jennet with 5 foals. She has had a beautiful spotted jennet foal, and also true black foals. Her hair has a natural gloss to it, and a fine, silky feel. This is a quality jennet. Black Lace is easy to halter, and lead, very good for the farrier. A really nice all around jennet.

Rusty is an elegant, up-headed jack, with good bone, and a beautiful gait. He is dark red with the russet (or what some call sooty) overtones. His mother is the fabulous foundation MGF jennet, Pon Farr, a true jennet of excellence who has thrown many high quality foals. His sire is The Elms Orion, a wooly spotted jack, known for giving great temperament, good structure, and balance to his foals. Rusty did not inherit his sire’s long haired traits, except for the floppy mane. This picture shows him in December 2015. He measured 31” Jan 22, 2016. Rusty halters and leads well, and is well behaved for the farrier. We think he has the potential to be a great herd sire, and could also make a show jack with his style and presence.

She’s gorgeous, completely white, just spectacular to look at in the fields. We thought we had an unrelated jack to breed her to, but they are all too closely related, or too big for her. So, we are offering The Elms Apple Butter, a three year old wooly jenny, for sale. She should go into a wooly breeding program, so I will want to have details on the jack you intend to breed her to. She is small, with a nice build, and good long hair. Apple Butter is friendly, easy to halter and lead, good for the farrier. Her white coloring is because she is spotted, on top of red based color genetics. Full black mascara around her eyes, and only a hint of color in her tail and the tips of her ears. These pictures are from April 6, 2016.

Darling in that fluffy white coat which he keeps most of the year.  Measured 25 inches on March 23.  We don’t breed for micro mini donkeys, as we don’t think that trend is healthy for the miniature donkey breed. He was gelded in March, and is ready to go to his new home.

Very nicely built jennet, sired by Mojave and with his super straight legs. Smooth top line, good balance. Lovely flashy white belly. Big ears. The red on her ears made us think she might carry red. So we bred her for her first foal to Red Hot Wind. Got a very nice sweet natured dark brown jennet, just like her mother, in May 2012.

She is proving herself as a great producer of correct, stocky foals. Her first foal, a jennet called The Elms Sirena, is high quality, very square, short and stocky. We have kept Sirena for our breeding herd. Her second foal, also a jennet, The Elms Pearl Temptation, is a spot that looks like she was cut from the same mold.

This picture, taken October 1, 2014 is of her un-groomed just as I brought her from the field. You can see that she is already getting the auburn overtones that the very black donkeys get in the winter. She has had several foals, in true black, and black and white spotted. D'Artagnan D’Artagnan was a really nice herd sire jack. He has a mellow personality, is easy to work with, and threw some very nice foals. We used him in our spot and wooly breeding programs. He is wooly in his winter coat, but he sheds pretty normally in the summer. Since we were not using him this year, and because we do not like to see our former herd sires go from breeding farm to breeding farm every few years, we gelded him. We are looking for a long term home for this very sweet little donkey gelding. Recently gelded, he will be ready to go to his new home mid September.

This is a very pretty donkey, and I thought a long time about this. We gelded him August 27, so he will be ready to go to his new home soon. Looking for a wooly donkey as a pet? He is sweet, and every so cute. Correct conformation, and will be sized well for driving. These pictures show him Sept 1, and he has naturally, but very late, shed most of his coat. He has formed the dredlocks that the wooly donkeys do. I will probably groom them off him soon, but the felt effect is rather fun to look at. If you like his spot pattern, but don't care for the long hair, well, it is easy enough to clip that hair off in the spring, and he will stay sleek all summer.

This little guy has a great temperament, loves to go for walks, loves attention. We gelded him because we think he will make a great Ambassador for the Breed. If you are looking for a donkey that would enjoy going places with you, perhaps to shows or for therapy, you should give this donkey a good look. He doesn’t have to travel with you, he will be more than happy to greet you at the gate whenever you go into the pasture. We are looking for a long term home for Little Red Hairy. Daisy is such a pretty color of red. I groomed her heavy winter coat off her in mid summer, and now we can see her base coat color. She is growing a longer than usual coat right now, so she still shows some of the wooly traits, but I expect over time that they will disappear. Look at how nicely her mane stands up. Well put together jennet.

Watchman is a mannerly and  friendly gelding, dressed up elegantly in a dark brown velvet coat with a dark nose. His sire is a long haired jack, but Watchman is not. The only sign of it is that he did not completely shed his belly hair this summer . He shed out normally this summer, except for the belly hair. He has been gelded for a couple months now, halters and leads well. I took him away from his group today, and he walked well for me over gravel and asphalt, let me pick his hooves.  Picture taken August 28, 2014.

Ginger is elegant, with a great temperament. Halters and leads very well, friendly without being pushy, very well mannered jenny. Some roan on her face adds a pretty accent to her red coat and lovely bold cross. She would make someone a great pet, and also has foundation genetics for someone interested in breeding later on. September 27, 2013 measured 31.25"

Ginger measured 31.75" Sept 30, 2014, so we think she is about finished growing. Her last hoof trim was in June. She has matured a lot this year, and has filled out nicely, as this new picture shows. Very nice jennet.

Burning Ring of Fire is a very well built jack, easy to lead and halter. Are you humming that Johnny Cash song yet? He has an alert, up-headed carriage and very graceful action. Ring has a willing temperament, great teeth, back line and legs. We have been personally overwhelmed with health issues related to our parents last year, and again this year. We did not breed any red donkeys last year, and won't again this year. So, we are selling this fine looking jack. We can offer some breeding jennets to go with him, and he would certainly like that! She measured 32" on screenings on Sept. 30, 2014, which is when this picture was taken. Her sire is one of the best built we have ever produced. This jennet has more than met my expectations. We have sold some of our red breeding jacks, and have kept a closely related red jack here on the farm. So, we are offering this lovely jennet for sale. She will be old enough to breed next spring.

He is related to our Rembrandt, Black Knight and Geronimo daughters in our herd, so we don't have many girlfriends for him here. This is an exciting herd sire prospect, and he is ready to breed now. Blazing Star is a splendid dark red jennet. She entranced us with her enormous star, almost a blaze, at birth. This mini jennet goes back to the richest of the red bloodlines, Fiftyfire, Fireman, and Red Baron. Top that with impeccable conformation, good bone, wide chest, pretty head, and a wonderful gentle temperament, she is a jennet to delight in. She had her first foal in 2011, the same day that her dam, Bubbles also foaled. It is fun to see the three generations at one time, mother and daughter, and both with foals.

This is a drop dead gorgeous piece of eye candy in your field! These pictures show him in his natural summer coat, taken August 2013. Not bathed either. White Lightning is white because he is completely spotted, which is what we call Fully Frosted Spotted. He has the full eye mascara, and the beautiful dark eyes. although his mother is a wooly, the only sign he has of his wooly mother is the long white hair that lingers on his belly until September. He was a very mannerly jack, easy to lead and work with, and now, he is a great gelding (which has already been done). Standing about 32" tall last summer, he is sized large enough to be a driving donkey, and wouldn't he look splendid in harness. Want a showy mini donk to just love on, or take to a show? We expected all kinds of color possibilities when we bred Rembrandt (black) to Apple Blossom (fully frosted spotted white with an unknown base color), but were utterly surprised with this lovely red jennet foal. From day one I wanted to keep her in our herd. Rose Blossom has grown up to have a stocky build, nice chest, great back line and legs, with the wonderful temperament both her sire and dam have. The pictures show Rose Blossom in her two coats, one shows her in spring shaggy coat. She is not a wooly as she does shed out fully in the summer, as in the second picture. She is a wooly (long haired) carrier. We have chosen to breed Rose Blossom for red, not wooly, as we do not at this time have a red wooly jack she can be bred to.

Gorgeous, true black jennet. Sparkle is going to be hard to part with. However, we have been dealing with family health issues for some time now, and have decided we need to sell some of our brood jennies. Sparkle has a naturally glossy black coat, what some people refer to as blue black. Stocky build, round hip, wide chest, and those beautiful white points. She is very elegant. Sparkle really shines in our field, and if you want a coal black jennet she is the one for you.

We loved this jennet the first time we saw her, and she is outstanding. Great conformation. 4 foals, each better than the last. Light My Fire is super easy to work with, leads, stands for the farrier, gentle temperament, and has her foals without trouble. Can't ask for a better brood jenny, and what a pedigree! The numerous outstanding donkeys in her background are why she is so good. We are only selling her because we have been dealing with family health issues for some time now, and have decided we need to sell some of our brood jennets. This picture taken August 14, and I measured her 31" that same day. Come on baby, Light My Fire!

Berry is a lovely miniature donkey jennet. Very correct, stocky and smooth. Her two grand sires are the famous Red Beau and Firecracker. Her mother is a full sister to our Synnamon, our oldest and most productive brood jennet, so we were happy to add Berry to our breeding herd a few years back, knowing the quality that Synnamon has produced. Berry is the mother of a fine, dark red small jack that we are starting to breed with in 2012, The Elms Red Fission (sired by The Elms Red Fusion). In 2012, she foaled an elegant dark red jennet, The Elms Wind Berry, this time sired by The Elms Red Hot Wind.

Here's a little red jack with a star. His foal coat shows a lot of roan, so it's hard to tell what color he will mature to. His mother is the richest clear red color, with flashy white legs. Lea's 2008 foal, The Elms That's Amore, started out pale roan as a foal, and ended up intense dark red at a year. So we will wait and see with this little guy. Meanwhile, he has a nice stocky frame, and a friendly personality, sweet and correct miniature donkey jack foal.

2 Red Jacks
DOB: July 15 and 17, 2012
MDR #pending

It was a busy month in July. One of the jennets we bought in Nebraska foaled. We knew she was pregnant, but did not expect her to foal quite yet, and we had not removed her from the group. Well, there were two busybody jennets in that group with her. We think that the combination of a maiden jennet with her first foal, separation from her buddies who came from Nebraska with her, and  interference by these two jennets, were the reason she rejected her foal. I found her at 1 AM, the foal dry, and this jennet was as far from him as she could get, while the two bossy jennets were babysitting him (but not letting him nurse, they were late stage pregnant themselves). I tried hard to get her to accept the foal, but it was clear she was having nothing to do with him. I milked colostrom out of her for the foal, and he has been a sturdy little guy from day 1.

8 hours later, I decided to try to foster the foal on an experienced mother jennet that had foaled the day before. The good little Mama donkey was a bit confused, as her own foal was standing under her nose, while this little guy was nursing. But she never threatened to kick him, and she let him nurse. In about 6 hours she was letting him nurse as well as her own foal. It is a funny sight to see them both nursing at one time. For the longest time "Mama" would reach back and nuzzle her own foal, then turn around and nip the "brat". I told her she did not have to love him, just feed him. Meanwhile, the two little jacks have bonded, and are always together. We call them the Milk Brothers.

We are selling these two together as they are never far from each other. Enjoy these pictures, they are fun little donkeys to watch!

Can't have a nicer gelding! Sunny is very mannerly, easy to lead and halter. Flashy red donkey with lots of white trim on his legs and belly and face. Great temperament. We believe that the geldings are the ambassadors of the miniature donkey breed, and Sunny is an excellent example. A three year old, he has the mental maturity and muscling to train to drive. Would make a nice show donkey with his up-headed look. His red color would ornament any pasture. He has always been in a herd situation, and would make a good companion to a lonely horse as well. He was gelded in mid May and will be ready soon to go to his new home. Want to take Sunny home?

We have a few of those special long haired (woolly) jennets on our farm. Whisper is one of them, a gorgeous 50/50 spotted jennet. We really love her very stocky build, and gentle temperament. The long hair seems to be accented by her spot pattern, and is so beautiful on a breezy day. We first saw her at her birth ranch, with her sister. I took a picture of the two whispering secrets in each other's ear, and just had to have this pair of jennets. MGF Whisper Me A SecretWhisper is never far from her sister/buddy, MGF Tell Me a Tale. Whisper has her first foal at her side, The Elms Persistent Whisper, a beautiful dark brown jennet foaled in 2008 sired by Black Knight. Whisper will be bred to our spotted woolly jack, MGF Musketeer, Spring 2009.

Whisper had a super wooly spotted jack in 2010, The Elms Zodiac.

This is a very nice spotted jack. Mirage has more color than white, which will keep him looking good in the field. Small birth height, straight legs, good chest. He has a gorgeous head, with full mascara around his eyes, and the parentheses ears which curve towards each other. Spunky personality, he is right there when you go in the field. Mirage will be for sale at weaning, as he is related to the Rembrandt, Black Knight, and Geronimo daughters we have kept in our herd.

Two red jennets we used in our breeding program. Two jacks were exported as studs, and one is a stud in the US. She still looks great. She has been bred to The Elms Mr Independence (29.5" red) for spring 2012.

Zodiac is a super wooly miniature donkey jack. He is named Zodiac because 3 spots on his left hip reminded me of star patterns. He has the rare trait of long hair, called "wooly" and he has lots of hair. His mane falls down, and his hair has good texture. He is correctly built, stocky, with good bone. He has a 50/50 spotted pattern, with four white hooves, and full black eyeliner on both eyes.

As of August 2011, Zodiac's voice is deepening, he is maturing rapidly and acting studdy. This jack may be able to breed jennets as early as this fall. This is a super long haired miniature donkey, his hair is over 8 inches long. The pictures were taken August 7, 2011, and you can see he is not shedding his coat. Zodiac has very long hair on his lower legs, what in the large draft horses are called "feathers". He is also wider in the chest than this spring, which is a good sign he is about done growing. Good teeth, and he has good bone, a stocky build. Good temperament, he is easy to lead and work with, and stood very patiently for me for the grooming.

Gorgeous! This is a super wooly jennet. We have been breeding for the wooly (long haired) trait for a few years now, an uncommon trait in the miniature donkeys. We are pleased with the results of this match, and think her a premium jennet. Tequila is spotted, with mostly solid color, a patch on her leg, and two white hind socks. We have found that the spotted donkeys can change color a lot from their foal coat to their mature color, first seen when they are a year old. She started out paler in her foal coat, but we can now see she is black based. She shows no cross, and has masses of long hair, bleached an auburn color during the winter. She has good leg structure, a nice, balanced movement. Along with all the long hair, she has a greet me at the gate personality.

Indy is one of our new herd sires. He was a very independent foal, went all over the field where ever he wanted to go, and so the name. We kept quiet about him, didn't post him to our web page, just waiting for him to mature. He has what we want in a herd sire, short coupled, nice balance, good overall conformation. Very nice temperament, which is one thing we breed for. Indy has a stocky build, which is unusual in a small jack. He has good red color, and a pedigree full of donkeys we have admired. We started to use him as a herd sire in 2010.

She has had 2 foals, one black, and was bred on March 29 to Geronimo, our 31" dark brown and white spotted jack. Her waist is thickening, and we haven't seen her in season, so it looks like she is expecting. Thinking there might be a black and white spotted foal next spring. Wouldn't you like to have one? Heather is a wonderful brood jennet. Her frosted white coat makes her very easy to spot in the field. She has had only 4 foals, and they have all been very nice, with rounded hips and good legs and teeth. A good spot, a frosted white, a black roan and a red/brown roan. She is a great color producer. Indy's first foal, and he looks to be a good'un. Miner's dam, Clementine, is a superior miniature donkey brood jennet. She has given us a number of exceptional foals. We used two of her daughters in our breeding program, and have exported two of her sons. A third son is also a herd sire. Mini donkeys are supposed to be a stocky, sturdy breed, well suited to work, and we try to keep to that ideal. We are happy with this breeding. Great build, and a very interesting rich color. Rudy is a true black cherry red without the extensive white points (frosty roan) so typical of the red donkeys. He has been DNA typed homozygous red. Rudy is an excellent jack to breed to spots to get the sought after true red and white spot that does not turn frosted white.

Ellie May is a super sweet mini donkey jennet. She has had lots of foals, and it is time to find her a good home. She might still have a foal or 2 for you, if you decide to breed her. She had a foal last year without any problem. She is in great health, has never had a problem in her life. Stands for the farrier, leads like a dream, great mother, and would make a great pet. Donkeys are long lived, someone looking for a mini donkey to just give you lots of love, Ellie May is your gal. If you don't have any other donkeys, we can provide another jennet to go with her, or a gelding, as donkeys like to be in herds.

Super Sweet miniature donkey gelding. This little guy has a 2nd birthday in April and he is staying small, under 30". Look at this picture, how quietly he is standing, with one ear turned to listen to me. If you want a small, and darling pet donkey, here is the guy for you. Mannerly, and friendly, he is ready to walk into your field and your heart. He has been gelded and has fully recovered from that worst day of his life. With his calm temperament, and small size would make a good kid's 4h prospect. We called him Hardy Boy because as a foal his color was hard to decide on, but now we can see he is a rich red sorrel color. Hard to resist is what he is, as cute as can be, and ready to go home with you.

Potential Show Gelding! 4H prospect! Amore is a love of a miniature donkey gelding. He is very mannerly, and leads well over grass, gravel, concrete, floor drains in concrete, and wet asphalt, as well as over fallen brush. He is a three year old, recently gelded, and would probably make someone a good show donkey. He is showy, with a rich dark red coat, and strong white highlights. He has very long ears, which we have loved from the beginning. He is muscled well, and is ready to be trained to drive, if that is what you are looking for. Candi has been a jennet producer for us, all stocky and straight. With a round hip, good back line, wide chest, and good bone. Candi is what most people look for in a brood jennet. She is bred to our small spotted herd sire, Geronimo, for a 2010 foal. Geronimo's first foals have been mostly jennets, and several fabulous spots. Here is your chance to get a proven producer and a super Geronimo foal!

Update! Jalan's Candi, has been confirmed in foal by ultrasound for a May, 2010 foal, bred to Geronimo!

Harmony is a beautiful dark sorrel jennet, with a lot of roan hairs in her coat that highlight her rich red color. Harmony describes her well, everything works right with this jennet. She is well built, nice wide chest, style, great legs. We have watched her develop and fill out, and are excited to have her enter our brood jennet herd. She has an interesting off center white blaze on her face, which we expect will broaden into the white roan face you sometimes see in the sorrel donkeys. Her sire is practically black, her dam is a gorgeous dark red. Whatever color her foals, they will be gorgeous.

Yes, he is good, very very good. Our great donkey friend, Linda Trimnell, named him tonight, and said he is tops. Linda really knows her donkeys, and told us his sire, Geronimo, would be a great jack for our program. Tiny, stocky, very straight, in a rich black color, and with those parentheses ears, Black Eagle has it all. Black Eagle is for sale, available at weaning.

33.25" Black No Cross Jennet - Miniature Donkey

Sire:  Soderglen's Black Beans, small jet Black, no cross
Dam:  Crocus of Sun Creek, Gray-Dun

Status:  Foaled an all black jennet July 2005, the Elms Black on Black sired by Chaboom. She has been bred to The Elms Rembrandt for spring 2007.

Penny is coal black with brilliant white points. She has a great personality and temperament, and is built wonderfully as well, wide chest, good bone and stocky build. Penny had a very good show career, placing high often, before coming to our farm as a brood jennet. Penny has the structure, temperament, and rich color that make her outstanding on our farm. On top of that, she has proven to be a superb brood jennet. All of her foals have been exceptional, and were sired by 3 different jacks. She is the mother of Sheloy's CJ, The Elms Little Black Prince, The Elms The Magician in Black, and The Elms Black on Black. She has been bred for 2007 to The Elms Rembrandt, and we expect this foal, again, to be something quite special.

We are happy to have a fine breeding jack to offer. The Elms Cadbury is full brother to The Elms Foxy Lady and half brother to Merry Go Round's Rustina, both in our breeding herd. He is full brother to The Elms King Crimson, now in the Netherlands. We have been breeding with his sire, Fiftyfire, since 2001 and continue to value him for the wonderful foals he produces. We retain Cadbury's mother, Clementine, in our breeding herd as well. These are bloodlines we know well and really like. Cadbury has good, stocky conformation with the beautiful head and upright carriage that Fiftyfire gives to his foals. Give him a good look and see how he will fit into your breeding program!

In 2004, she foaled The Elms Sedona Red, a dark sorrel jennet that is quite special. Her 2001 daughter, Pebbles, is a spectacular dark sorrel in our breeding herd as well. We know Sachet can produce spectacular foals as well as Fiftyfire.

What a surprise we found, a black roan jennet on Infer Nel’s side! Previously registered red roan, we now know Infer Nel is a rose dun, or russet (carries one red & one black gene) as well as a full body roan. We have kept two of her daughters in our herd. We love this Sweetie too, Sweetie is gorgeous, elegant, and a dream to look at. She carries intense red from Santana, and sparkles with black on top!
